365 days after.

Today marked the anniversary of my leaving from Toshiba.
It seems like it was only yesterday where I got myself to the factory, wear my whitey overall and cap, get going to production line meeting with all good people.

Toshiba, or we call it TEM, is my first workplace.
This is the place where I got to know the real world.
Honestly, working there is not that fun, but having a caring family of colleagues make me fall in love with this place, and it was terribly difficult for me to leave even only after 2 years plus of experience there.

There is just too much for me to remember, and to mention it all here.
But I still miss everything.

Rasa tensyen, keje macam orang gila tanpa henti, siang malam, sabtu dan ahad.
Lepak kat surau dengan fuad, sembang2 pasal life, pasal keje, pasal everything.
Tag team dengan Kak Lina, tackle semua obstacles yang ada.
Fuad, Rima, even bukan keje diorang pun akan setia menolong bila susah.
Excited tunggu pukul 12.15 pasal nak keluar makan dengan budak-budak lain.
Lepak dengan kakak2 operator makan, makan makanan diorang. Haha.
Hari khamis, ada kelas agama, pegi dengar even dalam kepala serabut pasal keje.
"Write off" "Write off" Ayat faveret dalam bilik holded room dengan Fuad.
"Schedule? Schedule?" Cakap ni sambil tunjuk gigi.
Pagi2 dengar ex-boss panggil sorang2 punya nama.
Sembunyik belakang mesin supaya bos tak nampak kite kat mana.
Ingat lagi bila bos cakap "The line loves you". Terus kembang sampai meletop.
Malam2 bila ada masa, tunggu je sms dari Daus yang ada je plan dia nak p mana.
dan banyak lagi...

It would be awesome if I could turn back time even for a day :)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone once again for giving me a superb memorable time at TEM, and I hope you peeps now are as happy as I was back then...

Dear you.

I have mixed blood.
But I usually introduced myself as part of you, because I was proud to be one.
You were someone who was rich with culture and customs.
You were the majority and you have the say.

As time goes by. You changed.
You forget about the custom. You forget about the culture.
Judging what is right and what is not is all that you do.

Dear you,
Please look around. Where are you right now?
You need some sort of 'quota' or an institution that belongs to you for you to earn a scroll of degree or diploma.
You need 'special' discount to own a house.
Many 'helps' have been given.

Yet, you don't have any control on the economy.
You're not the boss of private institution.
You're not the master of education or knowledge.

And still, what you do is judging what is right and wrong.
Come on, you, wake up.
Stop whining, start working.

I want to be proud again, proud to be you.
"Kau memang mudah lupa..."

Nisfu Syaaban.

Nisfu Syaaban falls on the 15th of Syaaban. Nisfu means half. That is 15 in a month.
We, Muslims believe on this day, all the practice, good and bad, Pahala and Dosa, will be taken up by the angels, and new sheet will be taken out for the year after.

Some Muslims will fast on this day, read the Quran, perform Qiamulail, so that the first thing recorded on the new sheet of practice is a good one.

So, that is a very brief introduction for Nisfu Syaaban, which will happen this Saturday.

"Selamat beramal"

Is it Bersih after all?

Bersih 2.0 is planning for a street demonstration this Saturday, 9 July 2011. Their purpose is to submit a memorandum to the DYMM Seri Paduka Yang diPertuan Agong.

Ok, I get it. E-mail, Pos laju is not that reliable to them, so they decided to gather, make a 'little' noise here and there, and go directly to Istana Negara. As I've been told, these so-called leaders also never try to raise this issue to the Parliament, not even once. Duh~

However, after a meeting with DYMM Seri Paduka Yang diPertuan Agong, they were adviced to gather in a stadium, and surprisingly they accepted it. Now that is how you get it done. Go to the stadium, make the most noise you can till you lose your voice and leave the street alone. We're not Indonesian or Thais. That is not how we, Malaysian do it.

Our country is still clean for all these nonsense of demonstration. You are not gaining anything from it, instead we're going to lose trust from the investors and outsiders. Think for the sake of the country, for us, for everyone of us, not to only yourself and for whatever your agenda is.

Breakfast!

Today's report in the newspaper claimed that 30% of Malaysian students do not take their breakfast. Not a surprise huh? Well, as for me, during my previous years, breakfast is not a routine until I changed my job to this current one as I have a 'bit' time to spend.

Breakfast is the most important meal. Even in Islam, during Ramadan (fasting month), we are all reminded every time that Sahur, which refers to the meal before sunrise is important and a blessing to benefit.

“Bersahurlah, sesungguhnya pada sahur itu ada keberkatan”. (Riwayat al-Bukhari dan Muslim)

So do we all know why breakfast is that important? Breakfast is like the fuel and energy to our body. By having meal early in the morning, our metabolic rate increases and reminding us what to expect for the rest of the day. Without it, our next meal would not be processed as quickly and tries to hold onto those nutrients. Instead of burning lunch right away, our body will try to hold to it as long as possible.

With that, enjoying breakfast does a positive effect on your mood, weight and energy level.
So, jom breakfast!

Fade Away.

I dreamt of my 'Lisa Surihani' the other day.
Fuh, there's a lot talk about and it feels like the chat has no end.
Even it was only a dream, it felt good though. I've been keeping a lot to myself lately.

Anyhow, as I think about it again, I realize that I couldn't recognize her face anymore.
She's fading away, and from there I know... I've moved on.
And I'm okay.

Foreign Workers.

Sometimes, people tend to think negative about foreign workers.

"They caused high criminal rate. They are lazy. They are problem maker. They took advantage of their employers, and bla bla bla..."

That is what 'some' people thought. And yes, some of them might be true. But some might be not.
They sacrificed their time for the families and do not have direct contact with any of them. They work days and nights without any leave. They need to learn the new cultures of ours.
Yet, it's a pity that some of us just do not know how to appreciate.

See them as a human being. Who has feeling and pain.
Imagine that it was you. Far from families and loved ones and never got to see them for years.
How would you feel?

Will it be okay for you to leave your little ones for weeks, without any knowing what happen to them?
Will it be okay for you to celebrate 'Raya' or 'Chinese New Year' or Christmas with your boss, not your family?

Just leave it that with the two reasons that I bet you'll never survive a day for doing so.
So please, treat them well.
They earn respect.

p.s. Watch the Filipino film 'Anak'. You'll be touched for what these people actually sacrificed for the sake of their loved ones.

Saving Electricity.

The tariff of electricity in Malaysia will be increased this month, but this doesn't exactly mean Mr Nazul dan Mr Nine will get extra bonus this year, instead this is a move by the government to reduce its burden on subsidy every year. Instead having you all whining about it, why don't you be a little bit considerate and start to save power and electricity?

Ok, here is what you can do at home.

Computer: More often than not, we do not flip off our monitors even after we have closed our pcs. Keep the monitor and the computer switched off when you are not using them. Start doing this even when at work.

Light bulbs: You must have heard compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs being advertised all the time. You must have even used them at times. As a power-saving measure, begin using the compactfluorescent light bulbs as often as you can. If you are conceiving they are more pricey than the standard bulbs, the gains of the CFL bulbs will prove lots more economic in the long turn by the amount of power they will save.

Air Conditioning: Put the temperature at the minimum or maximum strongest you are comfortable with. Try not to put it at too high or too low temperatures. Setting the air conditioner at fair temperatures helps oneself preserve lots of power.

Washers: Minimize the amount of washings by cleaning a full load of garments every time.

Television: Unplug the power plug of your television set when not using it. This may not sound like a big deal but this little step will help oneself save power. This includes your astro decoder. When there is no updating done by astro, it is better to switch off the decoder as having it in standby mode still cost almost 90% of its normal power usage.

Water Heater: Keep the geyser thermostat at the minimal heat. You do not need to heat the water at a very high temperature or for overly long.

Refrigerator: Bring cooked food to room temperatures before placing it into the refrigerator. You can also spare power by bringing cold or frozen food out of the icebox a great deal ahead of the mealtime, thereby conserving energy in heating it.

So, there you go. I know every one of us like being pampered and have all our life supported with subsidy without having to try enough, as all that important tasks of searching for financial support and make the world green is solely the government's job, but... please try. You can actually make a difference without knowing it.

Not Every Man Is The Same.

I seldom crossed over with articles of woman being the victim in a relationship and man being the predator, how ego and self-centered a man could be. The accusation is so generalized that claims all man are the same and cannot be trusted. With this, I would say that those who write this article has shortsighted mind, and stupid.

I never told (almost) anyone for what I've gone through these past years, but sometimes, woman can be equivalently evil and deceiving as some man are. They can be hurtful and cunning. But do I complain? No. Because it's qada and qadar that I found someone who is not right for me, and I'll never put the blame on all every existence woman on this planet for what had happened.

So stop feel sorry about yourself, and if you really need to put a blame on someone for your failure in relationship, put the blame on him/her, not man/woman, because such article irritated me and it is totally unfair. Not every man is the same, and you'll claim the same if I made accusation like you did.

Man and woman should compliment each other. Woman completes man, and vice versa. That is why Eve (Hawa) is made for Adam A.S.

“It is He Who created you from a single person, and made his mate of like nature, in order that he might live with her in love. When they are united, she bears a light burden and carries it about unnoticed. When she grows heavy, they both pray to Allah their Lord, saying: “If you give us a goodly child, we vow we shall ever be grateful.” (7:189)

Bukit Engku Busu.

Engku Busu is one of the hills around Lumut area, with 1080 feet height. This is one of my favorite getaway last time, whenever I got back home. So this time around, like the previous post which I'm trying to live a healthy life, after 5 months without trying, here I am once again, at Engku Busu, trying my heavy self up this hill.

I came here alone, as usual.
This is the place where I can be on my own.
This is the place where I can think deeper and calm myself down.
This is the place where I find peace.

That made Engku Busu my loyal companion whenever I am down.
But that is after I whaled myself, climbing 1000 feet up.

"Tahniah, anda berjaya menyakitkanku sekali lagi!" - Lutut

Actually, Engku Busu has a nice view on top, and before you reached the top, you can actually have a brief view of our naval base. Nice isn't it?

Believe it or not, I could get to the top within 19 minutes. But that was 5 years ago.
Today, it took me about 40 minutes with 2 to 3 times stop.
So whenever you stopped by at Lumut before heading to Pangkor, come and visit this lonely hill.
She'll appreciate you as much as you'll appreciate her ;-)
